Sam Harrington
Born May 2, 1930 Red Springs, North Carolina - died July 31, 1978
My father was a great man and one major reason i was successful in college and in life. Unfortunately, pancreatic cancer took his life at 48 young years. However, at that time he was a longtime businessman in Hartford owning several restaurants- with the last being Federal Diner on High Street.
He was a singer as well. While recovering from surgery in the summer of 1978 he heard a song played on WRCQ (Ken Griffey) titled, “A good friend is hard too find” which was written by me and my cousin Yasha Barjona (Rahni Harris). He produced it and played all of the instruments. it was played every hour on the hour on Fathers Day. He heard it played every hour. He was very proud. He had a huge heart and compassion for people. That is what I loved most about my father.
Anna Harrington
Born December 22, 1927 Plains, Georgia - died August 7, 1993.
This is my mom! Loved her to death! She to left too early. We graduated from college together-how special is that! She also instilled in me the determination and realization that education is a life long learning experience. With this in mind, I have sought to continue pursuing my educational goals. In May of 2010 it is my hope and desire that I will complete my doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Hartford. She showed me through thought, word and deed the essence of unconditional love. She was my biggest fan and worked to improve conditions for women and minorities throughout her life. I only hope I can be half the person you were-you were an absolutely phenomenal woman who will never, ever, be forgotten!

In addition, she was the self-proclaimed matriarch of the Harrington family. She was a great mother to my father, (Samuel C.
